Location This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton. Cluster Vision The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta invites applications for a faculty position as part of a coordinated cluster of five positions reflecting our commitment to advancing collaborative research and teaching in complex global issues including infrastructure resilience, environmental sustainability, and responsible resource development. Position Description: Geoenvironmental Engineering A full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor position in Geoenvironmental Engineering is available. We seek candidates with expertise in geo‑environmental engineering, especially at the interface of geotechnical and environmental engineering in mining applications. Responsibilities Establish and sustain a rigorous, externally funded research program and may engage in both fundamental and applied research. Teach courses in geotechnical, environmental, and mining engineering, including but not limited to environmental impact and site assessment, environmental geotechnics, landfill engineering, environmental impacts of mining activities, and soil mechanics. Engage in cross‑disciplinary collaboration, joint supervision of students, and development of integrated research initiatives across the cluster themes. Develop and maintain partnerships with industry and with the Geotechnical Centre, Water Research Centre, Centre for Computational Geostatistics (CCG). Qualifications Expertise in geoenvironmental engineering, especially at the interface of geotechnical and environmental engineering in mining applications. Specialization areas may include mine waste management, contaminated site characterization and remediation, bio / geochemical assessment and modelling of contaminants, biogeochemical assessment and modelling of solid waste systems. Practical experience that complements academic research is considered an asset. Experience in industry collaboration, multidisciplinary research aligned with climate change adaptation, infrastructure resilience, and sustainable development in the mining and environmental remediation sector is considered an asset. Experience with emerging technologies such as advanced sensing, data science, robotics, or artificial intelligence is considered an asset. Ability to develop and teach courses in at least two of the four disciplines (Geotechnical, Mining, Environmental, Water Resources) is considered an asset. #J-18808-Ljbffr
