This role works across infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and operational tooling in an AWS-based environment spanning backend, frontend, and internal services.ResponsibilitiesImprove and maintain CI/CD, deployment workflows, and environment management across backend, web, and internal servicesBuild, maintain, and scale infrastructure across AWS and container-based servicesImprove monitoring, alerting, logging, dashboards, tracing, and runbooksWork with engineers on safer deploys, rollback plans, and recovery from failuresAutomate repetitive operational work and improve internal toolingMaintain and improve infrastructure as code and deployment toolingHelp improve failover planning, recovery procedures, and backup/restore testing for critical systemsSupport production systems and take part in on-call for critical servicesManage and scale infrastructure across AWS, ECS, Docker, PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, and Go/Python-based servicesLead incident response and postmortems, and drive follow-up actions to reduce repeat issuesImprove reliability, resilience, and operational readiness across critical systemsQualificationsExperience running production systems in AWS or a similar cloud environmentExperience with CI/CD and infrastructure automationStrong understanding of AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, load balancers, DNS, and connectivity between servicesComfort with Linux, shell scripting, Python, and GoExperience with Docker and ECS or KubernetesExperience with GitHub Actions, Pulumi, Terraform, or similar toolingExperience with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar observability toolsGood understanding of PostgreSQL, Redis, queues, async workers, and scheduled jobsFamiliarity with Cloudflare or similar edge, networking or traffic management toolingA practical approach to automation, reliability and day-to-day operational workExperience with on-call and incident response for business-critical systemsStrong troubleshooting skills across application, infrastructure, and data layersAt Newton, we celebrate our inclusive work environment and welcome members of all backgrounds and perspectives to apply.
