Purpose of the Position As the Marketing & Pricing Specialist, you will develop and implement strategic business plans, market development activities, and growth strategies that maximize retention, growth, and value for the energy line of business segment. You will manage the development of product strategies and ensure their implementation in line with corporate and line‑of‑business objectives. Position Accountabilities Identify and evaluate market trends and their impact on the business and develop recommended strategies. Perform in‑depth economic and decision‑quality analysis of opportunities and strategies to grow the commodity business, supporting fluidity and enhanced operating income. This may include support for long‑term market development plans, initiatives, and projects for energy line expansions, new terminal facilities, fleet purchasing, and customer market initiatives. Recommend changes to customer transportation and logistics needs, adapting or introducing CPKC products to meet those needs. Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly revenue forecasting to support planning, performance tracking, and decision‑making. Lead management of the line‑of‑business contract calendar, including preparation of strategic contract renewals and development of RFPs. Lead the business groups in providing key strategies, metrics, and reporting for corporate processes, including annual business plans and quarterly reviews. Develop and implement improvements in processes or tools for marketing and product management. Validate and assess performance against annual revenue plans and market outlooks, and recommend actions to deliver or modify outcomes. Utilize market strategy and playbook to implement pricing strategies for RFPs and contract renewals, and provide timely pricing for tactical opportunities. Represent CPKC with clients, industry organizations, and port authorities as a knowledge leader. Position Requirements University degree in Commerce, Economics, or Business; prior experience in transportation, logistics, or related field is an asset. Minimum 3 years of revenue forecasting experience with advanced Excel skills; Power BI skills are an added advantage. Strong analytical and research skills to support market understandings, trend analysis, emerging issues, and competitive dynamics. Excellent communication, influence, and persuasion skills to articulate business group strategies, progress, and results. Ability to leverage data‑driven insights to make critical decisions and provide strategic direction. Strong sense of urgency when required.
