We’re looking for a Staff Software Developer to join our Retail team in Canada. You will personally contribute to the key parts of the systems to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer needs. You will uplevel engineering craft across the organization by providing technical guidance, promoting best practices, mentoring fellow engineers, while empowering the teams to build toward a sustainable architecture.Location: Canada. We offer fully remote, partially remote, or fully office-based environments. Work within EST/EDT hours.What You'll Be Responsible ForBuilding software: coding, code reviews, bug fixes, peer programming, incident response, and reverse‑engineering.Planning and architecture: estimating, collaborating with product, establishing MVPs.Learning and teaching: chapter reviews, research, meetups, coaching and mentoring developers.Enabling: working on shared libraries, contributing to open source, defining and documenting best practices.Avoiding pitfalls: identifying risks in delivering complex features and proposing mitigation.What you’ll be bringing to the teamExtensive staff‑level experience, proven track record of operating through large‑scale incidents and system failures.Systems thinking with deep proficiency in a relevant tech stack.Modern tooling experience, including AI‑assisted coding and deployment strategies.Excellent communication: simplifying complex technical tradeoffs for stakeholders and peers; proactive risk communication.Who You ArePrincipled but pragmatic technical leader with strong, evidence‑based opinions.Continuous force multiplier: building systems, tools, and developing people around you.Owner & advocate: acting with urgency, walking backwards from the customer.Boundary‑spanning problem solver: operating across squads and creating reusable primitives.Compensation & Benefits Salary range:$175,000 to $190,000 CAD(for Ontario).
