The OpportunityCompany, Department:Emera Inc., Enterprise Risk Management Location:Halifax, NS Closing Date:June 9th, 2026 We are currently seeking a Co‑op, Risk Management student for the Fall 2026 term (September 7 – December 18) within our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team. This 16‑week opportunity offers hands‑on experience supporting risk and credit functions in a dynamic energy and trading environment. In this role, you will gain valuable exposure to enterprise risk management practices, including credit analysis, risk reporting, and monitoring of commercial and trading activities. You will collaborate closely with professionals across the organization, building a strong foundation in financial analysis and risk management. What you’ll doAs a Co‑op student, you will gain exposure to key risk management and credit processes, supporting both the Risk and Credit teams. This includes: Assist in the preparation and distribution of risk and credit reports for senior management Support daily monitoring of commercial and energy trading activities to ensure compliance with risk policies and limits Contribute to credit analysis by researching and assessing the creditworthiness of companies Work with market and credit data to support reporting and analysis activities Assist in the preparation of memorandums and presentations for senior management Support enhancements and automation initiatives using Microsoft SharePoint workflows, tasks, and metadata Contribute to the creation and maintenance of the corporate Risk Dashboard and Energy Trading Risk Management database Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system and product enhancements Provide general support to the Enterprise Risk Management team Work term outcomesBy the end of your work term, you will have: Gained an understanding of how credit and market risk is managed across the organization Developed practical experience in enterprise risk monitoring, reporting, and compliance processes Built foundational knowledge of energy trading activities and risk management systems Strengthened your financial analysis skills, including interpreting financial statements and ratio analysis Enhanced your technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint tools Gained exposure to corporate best practices for data management, reporting, and governance Who you areYou’re a motivated and analytical student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (or a Master’s student in a corporate residency program), with an interest in risk management and financial analysis.
