Position Overview As the firm continues its strategic expansion into the Ontario market, it is seeking a Managing Director, Real Estate Debt Origination to lead and build the platform’s regional presence. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing the firm’s growth strategy across the province—driving origination activity, cultivating key relationships, and establishing a high‑performing local team. The Managing Director will have true entrepreneurial autonomy, the ability to make a direct impact, and the support of an organization known for its agility, credibility, and client‑first approach. Role Responsibilities Lead the launch and growth of the real‑estate finance platform in Ontario, with full accountability for origination strategy and market execution. Build, mentor, and oversee a high‑performing origination and underwriting team focused on performance, collaboration, and innovation. Leverage established relationships with developers, owners, and investors to source and close high‑quality lending opportunities across multiple asset classes. Develop a consistent origination pipeline aligned with the firm’s credit strategy and growth objectives and oversee all aspects of deal origination, structuring, negotiation, and closing. Represent the firm as a trusted, solution‑oriented capital partner in the Ontario market. Build the firm’s brand and visibility by engaging in industry events, thought leadership, and relationship‑driven business development. Work closely with internal credit, investment, and syndication teams to ensure deals meet underwriting standards and align with investor expectations. Maintain strong risk management, credit quality, and portfolio oversight standards. Support the development of new lending products and structures that respond to evolving market needs. Set and manage business plans, budgets, and growth targets for the Ontario region. Partner with executive leadership to refine the firm’s go‑to‑market strategy and identify new lending opportunities and partnerships. Desired Qualifications 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial real estate finance, lending, or capital markets. Proven success originating and closing transactions across multiple asset types and capital structures. Strong network of relationships with developers, investors, lenders, and intermediaries in the Ontario market. Deep understanding of credit, valuation, and structured finance. Strategic and entrepreneurial thinker who thrives in a dynamic, growth‑oriented environment. Demonstrated leadership experience building and developing teams.
