Senior Software Developer, Voice & Messaging Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely. We are seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our rapidly growing Engineering team. This role is for someone who is passionate about building innovative solutions and tackling new challenges and technologies. Candidates can be based anywhere in Canada, excluding Quebec. Local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto) you will be expected to be in the office at least twice per week on an Anchor Day. What your team does Our new Voice & Messaging pillar of Clio’s Unified Communications initiative brings voice, messaging, and email into a single, consistent experience across the Clio product suite. The team builds a serverless, event‑driven backend on AWS (Node.js, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB) and real‑time call infrastructure built on WebRTC, SIP, and LiveKit. The work is greenfield, with a focus on performance, reliability, scalability, regulatory compliance, and tight practice management integration. A day in the life might look like Work with a team of developers to solve complex problems and provide elegant solutions to Clio customers. Collaborate in an agile environment with full‑stack developers on various projects. Learn new technologies and become an expert in Node.js and serverless architecture. Partner with engineering teams across Canada, the United States, and Ireland on diverse projects. Review and provide feedback on code within your team and across all of Clio. Diagnose issues, understand root causes, and build solutions that span multiple domains. Teach and learn from peers, sharing constructive feedback and growing together. What you must have Experience building web and real‑time applications with Node.js on a serverless AWS stack (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB). Familiarity with real‑time voice and video technologies—WebRTC, VoIP/SIP, and frameworks such as LiveKit. A track record of deploying and maintaining production code at scale. What you may have Ability to quickly gain fluency in new technologies and thrive in evolving, distributed environments. Demonstrated mentorship in software development, especially within Agile processes and large‑scale SaaS products. A depth of knowledge that enables solving complex technical problems for the team. Documented past projects with notable successes and lessons learned. Clear communication skills and the ability to build high‑trust relationships with teammates and customers. Keen interest in improving your craft through AI tools. Compensation and Benefits The expected salary range for this role is CAD 144,700 to CAD 195,900, depending on experience, skill level, and geographic region.
