Senior Analyst, Volcker and Regulatory Programs - Toronto Requisition ID: Purpose The Sr. Analyst, Volcker and Regulatory Programs contributes to the overall success of Global Operations by executing support and oversight to Local Sustainment Groups, ensuring full compliance, alignment, and consistency across BNS and International Banking. The role also serves as the primary point of contact between Local Country Teams and Compliance and Enterprise Teams while driving and facilitating continuous improvement.What You'll DoMaintain awareness of local and global regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., Volcker Rule), emerging issues and trends, and keep all stakeholders informed.Act as liaison between the Enterprise and IB Groups and promote knowledge of applicable regulatory standards, initial risks and best industry practices in all Countries/Business Units.Facilitate and follow up on the implementation of regulatory compliance programs/controls, procedures, and standards in collaboration with Local Sustainment Groups, Internal Control, 2nd Line, and Business Functions as needed, ensuring alignment with company‑wide policies.Report gaps, follow up on corresponding remediation action plans escalated by Local Operations Teams, and provide advice and counsel.Coordinate and report on the progress of periodic activities and reviews of existing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy, effectiveness and efficiency, and ensure that periodic reports are executed within regulatory deadlines.Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.Champion a high‑performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.What You'll BringRecognized degree in business, finance or another related field.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial services industry, managing large complex projects with significant Retail and non‑Retail Banking, Capital Markets, Regulatory and operational components.Good knowledge of banking, operational risk, regulatory risk, compliance and regulatory requirements and internal control principles, as well as a good understanding of products, transactions, trading and operations in Capital Markets, Treasury, and Corporate and Commercial Banking.Experience dealing with control functions such as risk management, taxation, audit, compliance, operations or related areas.Ability to gain confidence and cooperation of business units and 2nd line functions while retaining independence and willingness to point out weaknesses.Good communication and presentation skills essential to explain regulations and internal policy and procedures.Maintains awareness of and actively engages in activities across all business lines, understanding regulatory perspective on risk.High‑performance standards, confidentiality, integrity, timelines and efficiency must always be maintained.Fluency in Spanish is required.Work Arrangement This position is currently a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work 4 days a week in the office.
