The Nutrition Manager is an operational leader who works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and key stakeholders to advance Extendicare’s mission to provide people with the care they need, wherever they call home. Key Outcomes Lead and develop a high‑performing food service team that demonstrates Extendicare’s values and delivers exceptional service to our residents and families Positively impact residents’ nutrition and enrichment through pleasurable dining experiences Ensure accurate and timely provision of menu items reflective of each resident’s plan of care Effectively and efficiently manage the day‑to‑day culinary operations for the home Support the home’s financial health by proactively managing the food and food service supplies budget, monitoring spending, and meeting financial targets Maintain compliance with provincial legislation, company policies, regulatory standards, and collective bargaining agreements across all culinary operations functions within a unionized environment Key Responsibilities Provide sustained support and actively participate in quality improvement processes and development of quality improvement plans Achieve resident satisfaction and employee engagement targets Manage the food service for residents with a focus on their individualized nutritional plan of care Work with the multidisciplinary team along with residents and families to customize personalized menus Ensure food and fluid interventions (as per resident’s plan of care) are prepared and served appropriately Ensure menu items provided meet the assessed needs of the residents Collaborate closely with dietitians and dietary team members to ensure service delivery is consistently compliant with organizational policies, procedures, and all applicable legislation and regulatory requirements Ensure the team follows required infection prevention and control and food safety guidelines ONTARIO ONLY: Complete low and moderate routine resident nutrition assessments as delegated by the Registered Dietitian (RD) Maintain operational excellence within defined budget Manage vendor and community partnerships related to the delivery of culinary services Hire, train, and engage a team of dietary staff to deliver quality nutrition and culinary services in a unionized environment Take a hands‑on approach to leading, mentoring, and supporting the dietary team as required Qualifications ONTARIO ONLY: Current membership with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) or Registered Dietitian Valid Food Safety Handler’s Certificate Minimum of three (3) years of relevant dietary experience and one (1) year of leadership experience Passion for food production, food service, and long‑term care Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one Core Competencies Resident‑Centred Nutrition and Culinary Practice Customer Service and Communication Leadership and People Management Operational and Budget Management Computer Skills and System Proficiency Change Management Analytical Thinking Time Management Attention to Detail Attributes of an Effective Leader Strategy Development: Understands the organization’s strategy and sets priorities to make it happen Self‑Motivated and Results Driven: Takes ownership and holds themselves and others responsible for delivering high‑quality, timely, and cost‑effective results Collaboration: Inspires a collaborative team environment and works effectively with others with the ability to influence Effective Communication: Actively listens, seeks to understand all perspectives, and communicates with respect Problem Solving: Recognizes and takes ownership to resolve issues outside of clear role mandate Builds High‑Performing Teams: Develops individual and team capability through continuous feedback, coaching, and a commitment to learning and development Data Analytics & Continuous Improvement: Uses data to identify and measure performance and develop solutions to drive improvement Time Type Part time #J-18808-Ljbffr
