Requisition Number: Posted: April 16, 2026 Position Type: Temporary, Full-Time Anticipated Contract Start/End Date: June 15, 2026 to August 30, 2026 Location: Port Elgin, ON Number of Vacancies: 9 Wage: $19.10 to $20.10 per hour ($18.10 to $19.10 for students under 18 years of age) About The Role We are seeking (9) service-oriented individuals to join our team as Program Staff Students reporting to the Wellness and Program Supervisor. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of summer camps. Responsibilities In coordination with the Recreation Program Coordinator, assist with the implementation and delivery of dryland recreation programming, including summer camps, and Special Events (including creation of program plans) Ensure programming meets prescribed curriculums / guidelines Take attendance and ensure accurate documentation is collected throughout programs Create a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly environment for participants Ensure programs begin and end on time Setup and teardown of program spaces Perform continuous evaluation and feedback of participants Promote and adhere to corporate health and safety policies, provide minor first aid, and complete accident/injury reports Participate in job-specific and corporate training opportunities, staying current with best practices and trends in recreation and fitness programming Competencies And Skills Adaptability: respond quickly and effectively to changing participant needs and facility requirements, maintaining a flexible and solution-focused approach Communication: communicate clearly and confidently with participants, colleagues, and supervisors, both verbally and in writing Conflict Resolution: handle challenging situations calmly and professionally, promoting a positive and inclusive environment Customer Service: create a welcoming and motivating atmosphere, ensuring participants feel supported and valued Interpersonal Skills: build strong relationships with participants of all ages and abilities, fostering trust and engagement Organization: manage time effectively, maintain accurate records, and ensure fitness areas and reception spaces are clean and well-prepared Independence: take initiative in managing responsibilities and addressing participant needs with minimal supervision Education And Training Must be enrolled in high school, a diploma, degree, post-grad certificate or trade program Valid Standard First Aid certification, or willing to obtain prior to start date is preferred Comfortable with self-direction as well as working in a team environment A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required if over the age of 18 Experience And Knowledge Experience developing/instructing recreational programming is an asset Experience working in a recreation-based camp environment is an asset Experience in a municipal environment is an asset Experience working in a multi-use recreation or fitness facility is an asset Demonstrated experience developing and instructing programming is considered an asset Benefits Enrollment in the OMERS pension plan A passion for investing in our workforce through continuous learning and development Flexible work options Equal Opportunity and Accommodation The Town of Saugeen Shores is an equal opportunity employer committed to inclusive, barrier-free recruitment and selection processes and work environments.
