Job Title Director, Engineering - Defense Location Administrative Centre (CA) Organization Aerospace Canada Employee Status Regular Responsibilities Interfaces multiple Bombardier Engineering functions and business leadership teams to ensure Engineering needs are met on a multitude of different Bombardier Defense aircraft programs. Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products. Manages the implementation of strategy and establishes operational plans with measurable contribution to function/area results. Drives results internally by developing and tracking metrics for engineering activities focused on missionized products and holding team accountable for project deliverables; both financially, schedule and quality. Responsible for all projects assigned to the organizational unit. Acts as an advisor to subordinate supervisors or staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems. Exerts influence in the successful execution of programs & projects through review of actions such as but not limited to review basis of estimates (BOE), tracking program technical performance measures, and ensures programs adherence to engineering processes and best practice. Helps drive Continuous Improvement & Quality Accountability through ownership of discipline productivity and quality measures, process training and process rigor. Deliver top line growth by working with Business Development, Program Management, and Business Leadership to provide input for Strategic Planning, Research and Development Planning, and Inter-Corporation Resource Sharing. Stays abreast of state-of-the-art technology advancement, identifying disruptive or emerging technology trends. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of applicable experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. Experience with supplier management and oversight of large work scope/packages. Management and leadership background with experience leading full lifecycle developments, including executing performance appraisals, managing staffing allocation, process leadership and career development. Self-confident with exceptional influencing, oral presentation, and leadership skills. Ability to work in a matrix organization. Requires the clearance to access Controlled Goods information, at a minimum. Preferred Additional Skills Versed aircraft missionized system development and required aircraft modifications. Experience with airworthiness certification processes under either civil or military regulations. Demonstrated history of recruiting, retaining, and promoting world class talent; develops staff members to optimize their potential and the performance of the discipline and the company. Significant development program experience. Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment.
