Are you looking for a position where you can design social media and communication strategies to engage with a diverse audience of more than 37,000 people? The University of Alberta Students’ Union is looking for a Social Media & Communications Associate to help shape and define our organization’s communications strategy.You will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications and work closely with the rest of the Marketing team, as well as with other departments within the UASU in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment. You will have the opportunity to help build a comprehensive social media plan for the Students’ Union, and its many businesses and services.Core DutiesPost and curate targeted written and visual content on the UASU’s social media channelsEnsure all content is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voiceContribute to the development and implementation of social media and marketing strategiesAssist with monitoring of daily media and news to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for growthRespond to, and/or elevate public comments on various platformsLiaise with the UASU, and with its stakeholders and partners, including University communication teams, community organizations, and donorsAssist with the creation and implementation of content calendars for the UASU’s social media channelsStay informed about events on campus, and monitor social media in the University communityBe involved in campus events as a participant, and “behind the scenes” where possibleKeep up-to-date with changes and trends in social media in order to provide strategic advice to the UASUAnalyze and provide data to the marketing team to guide content and campaign decisions.Minimum QualificationsPost‑secondary education in marketing, communications or similar, related fieldStrong English language, writing, editing and communication skillsA thorough understanding of social media tools, trends and capabilitiesExperience developing content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Linkedin, podcasts, blogs and websites, in a business settingExperience with photography and videographyProven organizational, and project- and time-management abilitiesHigh level of resourcefulness, creativity, professionalism and detail orientationProficiency with software including Google Apps, MS Office, online analytic tools, content management systems, Canva etc.Familiarity with the Macintosh operating system, and an understanding of graphic and web design (and related technologies) is an asset.This position is a term position with an end date of April 30, 2027.#J-18808-Ljbffr
