The Opportunity WSP has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering team in Winnipeg. You will be involved in a range of projects from conventional to leading‑edge assignments in foundations, infrastructure, transportation, slope assessment, geohazards, and the design of structures in the mining industry, leveraging your experience throughout Manitoba and the prairies. Your Impact You’ll conduct all geotechnical and geo-environmental projects, including organising field investigations, interpreting results, making engineering decisions and judgments, and writing technical reports. You’ll work on or manage projects of various sizes, providing technical input, mentorship, and support to junior staff, and conducting analysis and modelling of geotechnical designs. You’ll be involved in slope stability projects, mining projects (closure, tailings dams), foundation investigations, construction oversight, project management, and related tasks. You’ll work with and assist the materials testing department, supervise field programs, prepare technical reports, contribute to proposals, and liaise with clients as required. You’ll collaborate with other offices to provide growth opportunities and gain additional mentoring from senior staff. You’ll pursue self‑development through training or course attendance. The Skills That Set You Apart A bachelor's degree in Civil (Geotechnical) or Geological Engineering from an accredited institution. A postgraduate degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Geotechnical Engineering is advantageous. Registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in a Canadian province. 3 to 5+ years of practical engineering experience on a variety of projects. Strong written and oral communication skills in English, with proficiency in report and proposal writing. Strong leadership skills and a genuine desire to mentor and develop teams. Unrestricted Class 5 driver’s licence valid in Manitoba. A commitment to client service and technical excellence.
