Equans is looking for a Vice President Human Resources! Preferred Location: Montréal (Head Office) – Open to strong bilingual candidates based in Québec City or Ottawa. Summary Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Human Resources is a key strategic leader responsible for shaping, driving, and owning the HR and cultural strategy for a fast‑growing, multi‑site, North American organization. The VP HR ensures that the HR function enables organizational performance, talent attraction and retention, operational excellence, and a strong, engaging, and inclusive culture. The role oversees the full HR ecosystem across Canada and the United States, supporting more than 1,100 employees across 60+ sites. Responsibilities Lead, design, and own the HR and cultural strategy for the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and growth plans. Drive initiatives that strengthen organizational culture, employee engagement, leadership development, and workforce retention. Provide strategic guidance on organizational structure, workforce planning, and change management in a fast‑growth environment. Contribute to the overall business strategy at the executive committee level. Oversee recruitment strategies focused on attracting high‑caliber talent across Canada and the United States. Lead succession planning, leadership development, competency frameworks, and organizational capability building. Administer and continuously improve HR applications, HRIS systems, and employee survey programs. Lead HR teams supporting talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, payroll, performance management, labor relations, organizational development, and HR operations. Ensure efficient and compliant payroll administration and alignment with best practices across both countries. Implement HR dashboards, analytics, KPIs, and automated processes to drive data‑based decision‑making and innovation. Act as a senior representative of management in labor relations matters and oversee union and non‑union workforce strategies. Ensure compliance with employment legislation in multiple jurisdictions (Canada and USA). Oversee compliance with HR laws, internal policies, industry standards, and ethical practices. Manage HR risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure audit readiness. Serve as a strategic partner to the executive team, supporting business priorities and addressing organizational challenges. Lead and support corporate culture initiatives, employee experience efforts, and communications related to HR programs. Participate in due‑diligence and integration activities for potential acquisitions or major projects. Oversee the HR budget, resource planning, and financial stewardship of HR programs and tools. Drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and automation within the HR function. Requirements Authorized to work in Canada. Qualified to pass a security screening. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related discipline. Minimum 15 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in an executive or senior leadership role. Demonstrated experience creating, owning, and driving HR and cultural strategies in a fast‑growth environment. Experience leading HR operations in both Canada and the United States. Strong background managing multiple HR functions, including payroll, total rewards, talent acquisition, and organizational development. Proven experience with organizational design, restructuring, and navigating complex, multi‑site environments. Ability to synthesize complex information for executive audiences. Experience with HR analytics and reporting tools. Excellent command of French and English (oral and written). Ability to travel regularly within Canada and the United States.
