Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a Cost Controller to support major capital infrastructure programs. This is a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment requiring strong cost governance, structured reporting, and a high level of commercial awareness. The role will work closely with the Program Leadership team and embedded client staff, providing clear and reliable cost visibility to enable informed decision‑making.Your Key ResponsibilitiesManage the cost coding structure (CBS) and ensure accurate allocation of actuals, commitments, and forecastsMaintain and update program and project‑level budgets in alignment with the approved cost baselineProduce regular cost reports, dashboards, and financial performance metricsPerform variance analysis and provide early warnings on emerging trendsSupport development of Estimate at Completion (EAC) values, integrating actual cost, trends, and change impactsDevelop and maintain program and project cash flows in coordination with finance and schedule teamsParticipate in monthly reporting cycles, including cost‑schedule integration and risks/opportunities updatesImplement and reinforce governance measures for data quality, version control, and auditabilitySupport change management processes including cost impacts, approvals, and traceabilityAssist with procurement and contract administration activities including commitments, invoices, and closeoutEnsure compliance with corporate and client financial policies, controls, and audit requirementsMaintain strong coordination with accounting, commercial, scheduling, and document control teamsContribute to continuous improvement of project controls systems, including adoption of new digital tools (e.g., PMIS / cost system updates)Work effectively within an integrated client‑consultant environment and strengthen client relationshipsYour Capabilities and CredentialsExperience with cost management or ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, EcoSys, PMIS tools, etc.)Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard reporting toolsExcellent communication skills with proven ability to distill complex information into clear recommendationsAbility to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environmentAbility to collaborate effectively with diverse technical and commercial teamsExperience on major capital infrastructure programs (preferred)Knowledge of earned value concepts and cost‑schedule integration (preferred)Familiarity with AACE International principles and best practices (preferred)Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Construction Management, or related fieldMinimum 5 years relevant program/project controls experienceDemonstrated expertise in cost governance, forecasting, and financial analysis on capital programsSuccess in This Role Looks LikeAccurate, timely, and trusted cost insightsClear traceability of changes and decisionsStrengthened financial stewardship for the programStrong working relationships with the client, partners, and internal teamsReduced rework and increased consistency across reporting platformsThis description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Pay RangeLocations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario: $94,600.00 - $137,100.00 AnnuallyPay Transparency:In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required.
