Job Summary Job Title: Richmond East Urgent Primary Care Clinic (UPCC) Physician Work Site: # Shellbridge Way, Richmond, BC, V6W 2W9 Status: Part-Time Start Date: ASAP Compensation Type: Clinical Services Contract This is an opportunity for a Family Physician (FP) or Emergency Physician (EP) to work in a part-time or full-time position at the new Richmond East Urgent and Primary Care Clinic (UPCC) that opened in April 2024. The UPCC provides urgent care for patients with non-life‑threatening injuries, illnesses, and conditions that should be addressed within 12 to 24 hours, but do not require the service and expertise of a hospital emergency department (CTAS 3,4,5). The new Richmond East UPCC is a brand new clinic open to patients of all ages. It is located in East Richmond and is easily accessible by transit. Richmond East UPCC is open 365 days a year with hours of operation Monday to Saturday (including statutory holidays) and on Sundays. UPCC provides team‑based care with physicians working closely with nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and social workers. Diagnostics on site include X‑ray, ECG, slit lamp, point‑of‑care ultrasound, and point‑of‑care urine testing. Specialist support and referrals are available through Richmond Hospital. Applicants should have experience in splinting and casting, suturing, and minor procedures. Patients will be supported to find primary care provider if unattached. The ideal candidate combines current or recent experience in primary care along with urgent or emergent care, with a clear understanding of the role and importance of foundational primary care and is able to integrate the two. However, urgent or emergency care experience is not essential and mentoring will be provided. Training in Opioid Agonist Therapy is an asset but not mandatory. Candidates must be flexible and available to work a variety of shifts including weekend and holiday shifts. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly‑funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process. Qualifications Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License - Full Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) Emergency Experience – Desired Combines current or recent experience in primary care along with urgent or emergent care, with a clear understanding of the role and importance of foundational primary care and is able to integrate the two.
