Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer, the Senior Underwriter will evaluate complex facultative life and health risks, applying sound underwriting judgment across medical, non-medical, and financial considerations.This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to manage turnaround times in line with service standards, and a client-focused mindset. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to take on broader strategic responsibilities over time and play a key role in building the company’s presence in Canada.Key ResponsibilitiesAssess and underwrite complex facultative cases within established authority limitsProvide technical guidance and act as a trusted advisor to clients on underwriting mattersBuild and maintain strong client relationships through ongoing communication and in-person engagementMaintain and update underwriting requirements in line with client needs and market standardsCollaborate cross-functionally with actuarial, administrative, and business development teamsParticipate in client audits to ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and risk profilesContribute to initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and risk managementRepresent the organization at industry events, conferences, and client meetingsStay current on market trends and evolving underwriting practices, sharing insights with leadershipPrepare and present findings from client engagements to senior stakeholdersSupport internal collaboration and knowledge sharing across teamsAssist with contestable claims review when requiredQualifications & ExperienceUniversity degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field8+ years of life underwriting experience, ideally including critical illness and disabilityProfessional designations (e.g., FLMI, AALU, FALU) are an asset or in progressStrong track record in underwriting and client relationship managementExcellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearlyHighly organized, self-directed, and able to manage competing priorities effectivelyDemonstrated integrity, professionalism, and ability to build trust with clients and colleaguesComfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with evolving responsibilities#J-18808-Ljbffr
