Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust – CEO The Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust (ORMLT) is a charitable organization dedicated to protecting and sustaining the Oak Ridges Moraine. We seek an executive leader to advance our vision through strategic planning, fundraising, community engagement, and operational excellence. Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Provide oversight and strategic direction to staff and support the Board of Directors. Offer executive counsel on administrative matters, program policy and finance. Work with the Board to implement mitigation strategies for potential liability and risk. Prepare Board packages (CEO & staff reports) and attend Board meetings and committees. Lead implementation of the organization’s strategic plan and advance short‑ and long‑term objectives. Assist in recruitment and development of the Board and advise Committee Chairs, staff and volunteers. Direct fundraising activities, including developing a proactive strategy, securing grants, sponsorships, major gifts and individual donations. Build, cultivate and facilitate relationships and partnerships that increase revenue. Oversee communications and public relations/marketing strategies (website, social media, etc.) to drive fundraising and education. Community Relations & Advocacy Build and nurture relationships with partners, community members, donors, stewards, landowners and other conservancy groups. Act as the primary spokesperson for ORMLT and represent the organization at community events. Engage Indigenous communities affected by ORMLT’s activities and support their work in land conservation. Advocate for the Oak Ridges Moraine at local, provincial and national forums. People Operations Management Lead, motivate and support a small hybrid‑work team. Ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations, develop operational and program plans, conduct performance processes and oversee staff meetings. Develop and maintain effective, transparent communication systems across all levels. Lead development of HR policies, procedures and plans promoting a positive workplace. Oversee recruitment, retention and recognition strategies. Finance & Operations Oversee and monitor the financial health of the organization through budgeting, forecasting and resource management. Ensure land securement and stewardship objectives and policies are achieved within budget. Provide regular reports on program and financial matters to the Board and Treasurer. Coordinate strategic planning processes and annual reviews of strategic plans and programs. Review annual work plans for all Trust activities (education, communication, fundraising, operations, monitoring etc.). Ensure compliance with bylaws, policies and statutory requirements, and manage organizational risks. Qualifications Prior senior leadership experience in a not‑for‑profit or charitable sector. Demonstrated success in fundraising (sponsorships, major gifts, grants, planned giving). Strong relationship‑building skills with diverse constituency groups. Well‑developed leadership and people‑management skills for a small hybrid team. Proven ability to develop and advance strategic plans and priorities. Excellent interpersonal, mentorship and coaching skills, with tact and empathy in difficult conversations. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities to assess risks and develop solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English). Proven negotiation and public‑speaking skills. Experience working with a Board of Directors and understanding of governance models. Experience with land trust/conservancy or in an environmental discipline is a strong asset. Required Qualifications & Critical Commitments Legal authority to work in Canada. Ability to travel along the Oak Ridges Moraine with reliable transportation. Availability to work evenings and weekends as required. Salary & Benefits Salary Range: $115,000 to $125,000 based on a 37.5‑hour week. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Vacation: 4 weeks. Extended health and dental benefits following a 3‑month waiting period. Mileage reimbursement for site visits. Location Office is situated on a rural property near Schomberg. This position is hybrid, involving field visits and site work, with 3 days working from the office/field and 2 days working from home. Office hours: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; occasional evening work and weekends may be required for events and volunteer activities. Term Full‑time, indefinite. This role fills an existing position.
