Senior Claims Adjuster – Transportation LiabilityUnder technical direction, you will manage moderate to high complexity Transportation Liability claims (Motor Truck Cargo Legal Liability and Freight Forwarder Legal Liability) and work within specific limits of authority. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform duties in accordance with departmental guidelines. Interpret policy terms and conditions to determine coverage applicability and escalating issues as needed. Set activities, reserves, and authorize payments within scope of authority while managing expenses. Coordinate investigations and evaluate claims and suits through contact with insureds, claimants, business partners, witnesses, and experts, pursuing early resolution opportunities. Identify potential fraud files and refer to the Special Investigations Unit. Assign independent adjusters/surveyors and attorneys per established guidelines. Negotiate and develop complex settlement packages. Identify claims with third‑party recovery potential and coordinate with the subrogation unit. Partner with attorneys, account representatives, agents, underwriters, and insureds to develop a focused strategy for timely and cost‑effective resolution of complex claims. Input data that accurately reflects claim circumstances and other important business information. Stay current on provincial/federal regulations, industry activity, and trends. Recommend improvements to claim policy and processes to enhance the claims department. React productively to change and handle other essential tasks and projects as assigned. May lead special projects, presentations, and assist other claims staff. QualificationsCommercial property/casualty claims experience of at least 7 years. Minimum 5‑7 years of Transportation Liability claim experience. Strong investigative and claims resolution skills, and knowledge of insurance and claims principles. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, prioritization, and multi‑tasking skills. Ability to use available resources to make informed decisions and achieve superior claim outcomes. Strong knowledge of industry trends, Canadian and US laws, regulations, and fraud prevention. Customer‑service focus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable with a paperless, technology‑based environment; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and related software. Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment handling high volumes of work. Knowledge of both English and French is an asset. CIP or working toward completion of CIP; AMF certification is an asset but not required. Benefits & CompensationBase salary range: $78,000‑$110,000, supplemented by a comprehensive benefits package supporting physical, financial, emotional, and social wellbeing of employees and their families.
