In this role, you will operate and program advanced 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce complex, precision-engineered components. Responsibilities Set up, operate, and monitor 5-axis CNC milling machines with Heidenhain/Mitsubishi and Siemens controls to produce intricate parts from metals and plastics. Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM programming software, ensuring efficient machining processes. Interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and CAD models to accurately produce components. Perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions. Conduct routine maintenance on CNC equipment and troubleshoot issues related to tooling, machine operation, or programming. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and tooling fixtures for setup adjustments and minor repairs. Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency. Collaborate with team members on assembly processes involving plastics injection molding or welding when necessary. Maintain comprehensive documentation of production runs, inspection reports, and machine logs for quality assurance purposes. Experience Proven experience operating 5-axis CNC milling machines with Heidenhain/Mitsubishi and Siemens controls or similar CNC systems. Familiar with CNC programming using CAM software; familiarity with Hypermill CAD is highly desirable. Knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings for complex parts fabrication. Hands-on experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus but not required. Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, and precision measurement techniques. Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and other manufacturing machinery. Basic math skills for calculating dimensions and tolerances accurately.
