In this role, you will be part of an elite team of rail & transit systems professionals focusing on Canadian projects and Clients. As with all of our positions, this position is an entrepreneurial role in which you will be able to leverage Hatch and our more than 1500 rail and transit experts globally to your ultimate success. Our ideal candidate will be a veteran of the rail transit industry with proven experience managing and delivering profitable rail systems projects, pushing the boundaries of technical excellence and levels of efficiency found by developing better processes and procedures. They will also have a proven history of superior teamwork and a selfless pursuit of personal and company performance. The candidate will be familiar with and have demonstrated success in a seller-doer environment building client relationships and winning work. Strong interpersonal skills will be key, as client interaction will be paramount for this role. Finally, our ideal candidate will have a trusted reputation in the industry known for performance and integrity. Trust and ability to follow through is critically important to Hatch and as a key representative of Hatch, this position must be trusted above nearly all others. Responsibilities Leverage relationships and build professional networks to identify opportunities Develop teams, strategic positions, estimates and proposals to convert opportunities into wins Manage projects and achieve profitable projects that meet or exceed clients expectations Manage and provide leadership to technical and junior staff Present ideas, concepts and details to owners, contractors, and others for approval Negotiate for scope, schedule and budget Coordinate with a wide diversity of stakeholders to develop integrated and accepted solution Coordinate and build partnerships both internally with Hatch and externally with partners to achieve goals Review work of others and provide detailed and constructive commentary in a professional setting Work with others to promote Hatch and develop opportunities for new work Travel more than 25% should be expected Requirements A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline Professional Engineering Licence is preferred Additional certifications such as IRSE, RCDD, CSEP, PMP et al are a plus Fifteen (15) years of experience in the rail signaling industry with at least three (3) of those working for contractors or clients on at least one project based in Canada from cradle to grave. Five (5) or more years of multidisciplinary project management or large project systems integration experience using ISO 15288 Systems Engineering principles. Five (5) years of proven commercial experience with contracts, budgets, and negotiations Deep experience with freight rail, commuter rail, metro and/or LRT systems with emphasis on brown field upgrades Hands‑on experience with the design and implementation of signaling, traction power or communications systems including but not limited to modeling and simulations, preliminary design, detailed design, RAMS, programming, field testing, and V&V. Knowledge of railway operations, system safety, RAMS and associated requirements Excellent communication skills (verbal and written, including technical writing) is required.
