The Primary Construction Team consists of ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada Inc. (ACCIONA) and Amico Major Projects Inc. (Amico), as Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP). What is the project? The Ontario Line (“OL”) is a fully integrated, stand‑alone, rapid transit system that connects Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (“NC”) project consists of approximately 7 kms of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations along the segment providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project has been divided into two main progressive design‑build contracts: (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract (“EGS”) and the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract (“PTUS”), with supporting Early Works. What is the Opportunity? The Incident and Training Coordinator is responsible for managing the reporting, tracking, and analysis of workplace incidents, while coordinating, administering, and delivering health and safety training programs across the organization. This role ensures timely incident investigations, accurate record‑keeping, and compliance with applicable requirements, while supporting employee competence. The coordinator promotes a strong safety culture through effective training, safe work practices, and continuous improvement initiatives. Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain and update safety records, incident reports, and safety training documentation. Ensure all health and safety documentation is compliant with applicable requirements, internal procedures and regulatory standards. Organize and manage safety‑related documents to ensure accessibility, traceability, and proper record retention. Training and Competence Development: Support the implementation of health and safety training programs to ensure employee competence across the project. Coordinate, schedule, and deliver training, including onboarding, orientations, mandatory, and specialized programs. Develop, update, and maintain training materials and content (e.g., toolbox talks, presentations, and site‑specific training) based on operational needs, incidents, and identified risks. Promote awareness of safe work practices, proper use of PPE, and emergency procedures through training activities. Identify training needs and gaps and support the development of targeted and on‑the‑job learning initiatives. Maintain training records, certifications, and competency matrices to ensure accuracy and traceability. Maintain and update training systems and databases to support tracking, reporting, and data integrity. Track training completion and expiry dates and follow up to ensure all required training is completed and up to date. Promote safety awareness and best practices to support a proactive safety culture. Incident Reporting and Tracking: Administer the project Incident Reporting Protocol and maintain associated reporting systems. Coordinate the reporting and documentation of events, including incidents, near misses, OHS concerns, and observations. Ensure correct classification of events in accordance with project requirements and Schedule 29 reporting criteria. Maintain consistency and accuracy in event categorization (e.g., incidents, high‑potential near misses, OHS concerns, observations) within reporting systems. Track events and follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely implementation and closure. Support incident investigations conducted by Health and Safety Coordinators by assisting with evidence collection, documentation, and report preparation. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records to ensure traceability and reporting accuracy. Analyze event data and trends to identify recurring issues and support preventive actions. Support the development and communication of lessons learned from incidents to promote awareness and prevent recurrence. Provide guidance to supervisors and teams on event reporting and classification requirements. Verify that reported events meet applicable notification and escalation requirements (e.g., regulatory, client, or emergency reporting triggers). General Support to Health and Safety Team: Provide coordination support to the Health and Safety Manager, Assistant Health & Safety Manager / ISO Lead, Coordinators, and safety administrator. Support the preparation of safety reports, presentations, and documentation for management and internal stakeholders. Coordinate safety meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and documentation of minutes and action items. Support communication and coordination between teams regarding safety initiatives, training, and incident management activities. Assist in the review and monitoring of applicable OH&S legislation and project requirements. Health and Safety Program Implementation: Support the implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety programs, procedures, and initiatives across the project. Ensure safety practices and controls are applied in accordance with company standards, project requirements, and applicable regulations. Assist in the coordination and rollout of safety initiatives, programs, and campaigns across teams. Support the integration of health and safety requirements into daily operations, including training, incident management, and work planning activities. Monitor and analyze safety performance across the project, including incidents, near misses, and training compliance. Maintain and update reporting systems, dashboards, and databases to ensure accurate and timely data. Track key performance indicators (KPIs), including incident trends, training completion, and competency status. Identify trends, recurring issues, and areas for improvement based on data analysis. Prepare and maintain reports to support internal reporting and management review. Provide regular updates to management and leadership on safety performance, key indicators, and improvement opportunities. Work Conditions: 70% Project office – 30% Field. Rotation to different project sites. Required Skills and Competencies Demonstrated capacity to work both autonomously and within a team environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices. Excellent communication skills for interacting with staff and management. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Proficiency in IT and safety management software and other digital tools and trending methods. University degree in STEM sciences. NHSA/NCSO designation (working towards). 1 – 2 years Construction/Infrastructure/Industrial (desirable). Knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations.
