Role Overview Project Superintendent is accountable for the day-to-day execution of construction activities on- site, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standard. This role drives site performance proactively identifies risks, and ensures alignment across all stakeholders to maintain schedule, budget, and quality objectives. The Superintendent plays a critical leadership role on-site, setting the tone for safety, coordination, and accountability while ensuring all work progresses in accordance with project plans and Eastern Construction standards Key Responsibilities 1.Project Execution & Leadership Own the execution of all on-site construction activities to ensure alignment with project schedule, budget, and quality expectations Lead and coordinate subcontractors, trades, and site personnel to maintain productivity and workflow Maintain a well-organized, proactive site where work is planned ahead and not reactive 2.Planning & Scheduling Execute and continuously manage the project schedule, including short-interval and look-ahead planning Anticipate constraints and proactively adjust sequencing to maintain project momentum Coordinate labour, equipment, and materials to ensure efficient use of resources 3.Safety Leadership Lead and reinforce a strong safety culture on-site in alignment with Eastern Construction policies and the Ontario Health & Safety Act Take ownership of site safety performance by proactively identifying and addressing risks Ensure all safety procedures, inspections, and reporting requirements are consistently followed 4.Quality Control Ensure all work complies with contract documents, drawings, and specifications Identify and resolve quality issues early to prevent rework and delays Maintain high standards of workmanship across all trades 5.Stakeholder Coordination Drive clear, consistent communication across subcontractors, consultants, clients, and internal teams Address issues directly and constructively to maintain alignment and progress Represent Eastern Construction professionally in all site interactions and meetings 6.Resource & Trade Management Coordinate and manage subcontractor performance to ensure work meets expectations Optimize use of labour, materials, and equipment to support project goals Ensure timely delivery and availability of materials and resources 7.Risk Management & Problem Solving Identify potential risks related to schedule, cost, safety, and quality Take proactive steps to mitigate issues before they impact project performance Make informed, timely decisions on-site to resolve challenges and maintain progress 8.Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate and up-to-date site documentation, including daily reports, RFIs, field orders, and safety records Track project progress, delays, and key site activities Provide clear and consistent updates to the Project Manager on site performance and risks Qualifications & Experience 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in ICI. Education in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and site operations Ability to manage multiple trades and keep projects moving forward Confident communicator who can handle tough conversations when needed Solid judgement and problem-solving skills on-site Gold Seal Certification is an asset.
