Summary The Quality Control (QC) Inspector plays a key role in inspecting incoming materials, in-process items, and completed products to verify they meet Variperm’s quality standards. This role requires exceptional attention to detail and includes the responsibility of upholding the Variperm quality management system protocols across the manufacturing floor. This position may involve various shifts and overtime hours depending on the scope of work. The schedules are tentative and may be subject to change. Job Duties/Responsibilities Learn and become familiar with Variperm’s process‑specific general quality requirements and quality management system framework. Inspect products at various stages to ensure conformance with job order quality requirements, using measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, etc. Use specific job order documentation package as reference when performing quality control inspections on pertinent orders. Accurately and consistently document inspection activities and dispositions in quality control inspection log. Prepare daily quality control reports for use by engineering and manufacturing departments. Verify in-process quality control activities are being performed as required by the specific job order documentation package and quality management system. Report any nonconforming items to the Material Review Board for disposition. Interface with multiple production shifts and departments, communicating quality issues to pertinent personnel. Participate in training and safety meetings as required. Lift and carry materials weighing up to 45 lbs., lift items weighing more than 45 lbs. with assistance from other workers, forklift and/or overhead hoist. Other duties as required. Skills/Knowledge Able to follow best practices for performing inspections, including safety procedures. Mechanically inclined, ability to learn and understand manufacturing processes to help determine root cause of quality issues. Ability to skillfully use measurement equipment such as calipers and micrometers. Knowledge and practical experience with visual weld inspection and non‑destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as liquid penetrant inspection. Keen attention to detail, with strong aptitude to understand technical drawings. Team player with good verbal and written communication skills. Able to follow and understand both oral and written instructions in English. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, and the ability to drive between two facilities. Driven, reliable, and a strong sense of initiative to deliver results. Comfortable working pipe handling/oversized materials in tight spaces and outdoor environments. Ability to work with others in a fast‑paced environment to achieve job goals. Work under pressure while maintaining precision and accuracy. Basic computer skills (MS office including Excel and Outlook). Education Min 2 years of direct QC experience in a manufacturing or machining environment. Any welding inspection or NDT training or certification is an asset. Any internal auditor training or certification is an asset. High school diploma along with relevant post‑secondary education.
