You As a Health, Safety & Environment Coordinator Will Be responsible for safety orientation, job site inspections, onsite first aid assessment/treatment and accident/injury reports Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance to safety procedures and raise issues to resolution Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations and take necessary measures to correct them Review subcontractors’ pre‑construction safety submittals Review and file subcontractors’ weekly safety submittals Organize and conduct training programs including WHMIS, fall protection, personal protection equipment, CPR/first aid Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual project health and safety statistics Create, maintain and educate all site staff on maintaining a safety‑first culture Manage the onsite health care service provided to employees and subcontractors Oversee the evaluation and treatment of employees with injuries and/or illnesses; refer to a physician or hospital and follow up treatment Follow up on emergency hospital cases keeping Claims Management, Site HSE team, project management and the Regional HSE Director apprised of the status of patients Maintain confidential medical records in secure fireproof cabinets Assist in planning emergency evacuation procedures in conjunction with the site HSE coordinator and project management team Implement project medical database to support reporting and follow‑up of injuries/illnesses managed by the on‑site medical staff Is this the right role for you? Minimum of 2 years’ safety experience on institutional, commercial and residential construction projects Valid first aid certificate National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate is an asset Construction Safety Coordinator Gold Seal certification or CRSP designation is an asset Experience in the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program is an asset Ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations Knowledge of current occupational health practices and applicable legislation is desirable Knowledge of medical record‑keeping requirements in accordance with standards of professional practice, governmental regulations, and HSE requirements Salary range: $80,000 – $100,000 EllisDon is proud to provide this unique career opportunity that provides continuous learning, opportunity for growth, and a competitive compensation package within an environment that is committed to inclusion and respects diversity.
