The role involves leading complex tax engagements and spearheading strategic planning for an expanding portfolio of private-enterprise and middle-market clients. Responsibilities Strategic Tax Planning: Developing and implementing tax strategies for clients or the organization, including tax optimization, reorganization, and compliance measures. Lead all Canadian tax engagements for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and trusts. Advanced tax strategies; corporate reorganizations, estate and succession planning, and Canadian tax-provision support. Team Leadership: Supervising and mentoring a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management. Tax Research and Interpretation: Staying current on changes in tax law and regulations, conducting tax research, and interpreting complex tax issues. Client Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their tax needs, and providing high-quality tax advice. Process Improvement: Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the tax function. Cultivate close collaboration among audit, advisory, and client-service teams, ensuring clients receive fully integrated, end-to-end solutions. Qualifications 10+ years of progressive Canadian Tax experience in public practice or Tax Law Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with CPA designation in good standing Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program, Master's in Taxation (or equivalent) A thorough understanding of the Income Tax Act, provincial tax laws, and other relevant legislation. Extensive experience in Canadian tax, including tax planning, compliance, and strategies Ability to lead and motivate a team, delegate tasks effectively, and manage performance. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
