In the RBC Insurance Architecture team, a Lead Solution Architect will drive innovative, digital‑first, agentic‑first solutions that transform the insurance technology landscape. Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of complex solutions aligned with business objectives and architectural governance principles. Stay ahead of industry trends in agentic solution design, cloud platforms, and microservices architecture. Ensure all solution designs comply with RBC's architectural governance framework and applicable regulatory requirements. Qualifications Must Have: 7+ years in solution architecture, including design and delivery of client‑facing digital platforms in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, etc.), with demonstrated expertise in security, resiliency, and observability across enterprise‑scale cloud/hybrid ecosystems. Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), microservices architecture, event‑driven integration (e.g., Kafka), and API‑driven design. Strong understanding of containerization (OpenShift/Kubernetes), cloud‑native design patterns, and DevOps practices. Strong foundation in architectural design principles, including agentic integration patterns, messaging technologies (synchronous, asynchronous, batch), component‑based design, front‑end frameworks (Angular, React), digital‑channel‑first/omnichannel architecture, secure data integration, and infrastructure scalability. Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional architectural initiatives, influence technical strategy, and mentor architecture and engineering teams on design principles and best practices. Proven experience with architectural governance frameworks, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance requirements in financial services environments. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. Experience with AI‑driven design and code generation tools is required. Nice to Have: Experience with insurance platforms, products, and domain‑specific regulatory requirements. Knowledge of insurance architecture patterns (e.g., policy management, claims processing, underwriting systems). Proven track record modernizing legacy systems within large financial institutions, including experience decomposing monolithic architectures and managing technical debt during cloud/hybrid migrations. Experience designing and implementing enterprise API ecosystems, event‑driven architectures at scale, or GraphQL‑based solutions in complex, multi‑system environments. Familiarity with enterprise architecture governance processes and proficiency with modeling/documentation tools (e.g., Sparx EA, Lucidchart) for communicating architectural decisions and maintaining architectural coherence.
