We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to cover a one-year maternity leave and serve as the sole HR leader for the organization. This is a highly autonomous role suited for someone who enjoys building, creating structure, and solving problems in a fast-paced environment. The Opportunity This is not a traditional HR role with a large team, established processes, or extensive support. You will be responsible for the full employee lifecycle while partnering directly with founders and senior leaders to build and improve HR programs, policies, and processes. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, comfortable operating independently, and capable of balancing strategic initiatives with day-to-day HR operations. What You'll Own Human Resources Operations Act as the primary HR contact for all employees and managers across the organization. Manage the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee relations, performance management support, and offboarding. Maintain employee records and ensure HR compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Administer HR processes, documentation, and employment agreements. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition Lead recruitment efforts for corporate, technical, and operational positions. Partner with hiring managers to define hiring requirements and improve hiring processes. Manage one internal recruiter and help coordinate interview processes. Conduct HR phone screens and support hiring decisions. Onboarding & Offboarding Own all onboarding activities, ensuring new hires have a seamless experience. Coordinate equipment, systems access, documentation, and orientation processes. Manage employee departures, including termination documentation and exit processes. Policies, Programs & HR Initiatives Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee programs. Identify opportunities to improve employee experience and operational efficiency. Lead HR projects and initiatives from concept through implementation. Build scalable processes that support continued company growth. Performance Management & Employee Support Support managers with performance conversations, employee relations matters, and coaching. Assist with performance review processes and organizational development initiatives. Provide practical HR guidance while balancing employee and business needs. Payroll & Benefits Administration Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, overtime, holiday pay, leaves, and benefits. Partner with Finance and external providers (Deel) to ensure accurate employee records and payroll administration. Support compensation administration and employee documentation. HR Systems & Compliance Administer and maintain Deel and other HR systems. Ensure employee records, contracts, and documentation remain accurate and compliant. Support employment law compliance and HR best practices across multiple countries. What We're Looking For 5-7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience. Experience operating as a standalone HR professional or within a small HR team. Strong knowledge of employee lifecycle management and HR operations. Experience supporting recruitment across multiple functions, including technical hiring. Experience with Deel or other global employment platforms is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of payroll concepts, including overtime, holiday pay, and leave administration. Excellent judgment, discretion, and communication skills. Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with limited structure. Proven ability to take ownership, identify priorities, and execute independently with minimal supervision.
