The Senior Managing Business Transformation Consultant will be a key member of IBM’s Payments Center Strategy and Business Consulting practice. This role focuses on helping financial institutions, payment service providers, market infrastructures, and ecosystem partners shape and execute their payments transformation agenda. The ideal candidate combines deep payments expertise with strong consulting skills, enabling clients to design strategies, modernize capabilities, and navigate regulatory and operational change. Responsibilities Lead the development of payment strategy, operating models, and multi‑year transformation roadmaps. Design and advise on national, regional, and commercial market infrastructure models, future‑state business architectures, and interoperability frameworks. Lead a team of Business Transformation Consultants internally and externally with the clients. Define, analyze, and validate business requirements for payment modernization, platform transformation, and new product development initiatives. Design and optimize business processes, workflows, and customer journeys across the payments value chain. Provide advisory support on regulatory changes, compliance obligations, risk mitigation, and policy impacts affecting payments modernization programs. Facilitate stakeholder engagement across banks, fintechs, regulators, schemes, and technology partners. Develop and present high‑quality deliverables, including business cases, strategy documents, operating model designs, and transformation approaches. Support go‑to‑market initiatives, thought leadership, and client proposal development. Actively participate in all stages of the product lifecycle: discovery, analysis, design, development, testing, UAT, and go‑live. Mentor junior consultants and contribute to practice growth. Required Education Bachelor's Degree Preferred Education Bachelor's Degree Required Technical and Professional Expertise Minimum 10 years of experience in payments, financial services consulting, or related transformation roles. Experience delivering strategy and business architecture work, including current‑state assessment and future‑state design. Strong capability in translating business needs into structured requirements and process designs. Working knowledge of payments regulations, industry standards, scheme rules, riskandcompliance requirements. Proven experience engaging senior stakeholders and facilitating sessions across business and technology teams. Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multicultural, global consulting environment. Familiarity with payment operations, settlement processes, and resiliency requirements. Understanding of emerging themes such as CBDC, tokenized deposits, digital assets, AI in payments, or fraud management. Be familiar with information technologies and tools such as JIRA, confluence. Consulting experience with top‑tier banks, central banks, payment scheme operators, or large fintechs. Preferred Technical and Professional Experience Digital Assets Familiar with BIAN framework Experience with national or regional market infrastructure modernization programs (ISO 20022, instant payments, RTGS renewal, cross‑border improvements).
