Overview As an Alternative Strategist at Fidelity, you will drive our alternative sales and AUM growth across Western Canada by engaging with financial advisors, sales teams, and stakeholders. You will communicate investment philosophy, product updates, and thought leadership, support product development, and represent Fidelity at industry events and conferences. Responsibilities Build, maintain, and communicate expert knowledge on Fidelity’s alternative strategies, competitor landscape, and capital markets. Attend internal and external conferences to understand and disseminate developments in the alternative landscape. Engage dealer gatekeepers and decision makers to secure inclusion of our alternative offerings on approved lists. Provide thought leadership and in‑depth insights to sales teams, delivering monthly or one‑off updates. Collaborate with partners to support educational initiatives for the sales development program, ensuring salesforce is equipped on alternatives. Act as an advisor to partner financial advisors, providing SME support on complex alternative solutions. Engage directly with advisors in Western Canada, expanding knowledge and usage of Fidelity’s alternative solutions. Help DVPs/BDMs develop and manage alternative business plans for their territories, including segmenting by client type. Provide meaningful engagement with core and prospective advisor clients to enhance partnerships and drive new growth. Identify and execute sales strategies that increase net sales, market penetration, and customer loyalty. Partner with Sales to create a continuously evolving pitch for each alternative offering. Collaborate with portfolio managers, maintaining open communication for timely inputs. Participate in industry events and conferences to educate DIY investors about alternative investing. Provide insights for external investment communication materials, ensuring correct alternative positioning. Assist in producing thought‑leadership pieces and supporting product development initiatives. Build strong relationships with alternative portfolio managers and support client presentations. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of wholesale sales experience in an investment services environment, focusing on alternatives. University degree or equivalent work experience. Additional designations such as CAIA, CFA, CIM, MBA are an asset. Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, with excellent presentation abilities. Ability to articulate investment philosophy and mechanics convincingly. Track record of creating and delivering investment presentations to diverse audiences. Strong relationship‑building capacity and collaboration across investment, distribution, product, and senior management teams. Willingness to travel frequently, on average 1‑2 days per week. Benefits Base salary: $120,000 – $140,000 annually (dependent on experience and qualifications). Variable‑compensation plan participation, rewarding results and target achievement.
