Brunel is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – Engineering to support the delivery of a major mining and metallurgical process facilities project. This is a contract role, initially based in a Vancouver engineering office, with progression to site in Chile during later phases of execution. The role is responsible for leading both detailed engineering and engineering execution activities across the full project life cycle, with responsibility for coordinating closely with technology providers, engineering contractors, and site teams to ensure safe, high-quality, and on-schedule delivery. Responsibilities Provide day-to-day leadership, management, and direction of detailed engineering and engineering execution phases of a large-scale mining and metallurgical process facilities project. Lead engineering activities from early scoping and definition through detailed engineering, procurement support, field erection, and commissioning support. Review and oversee the development of Engineering Work Packages (EWPs), establishing tasks, subtasks, deliverables, and timelines in coordination with technology providers. Maintain accountability for scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety as influenced by technology package engineering. Monitor technical work performance and ensure effective controls are in place for tracking and reporting engineering progress. Interface closely with site-based leadership, health and safety teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure engineering execution aligns with operational expectations and health, safety, and environmental requirements. Participate in design reviews and execution planning discussions to support logical and achievable schedule development. Lead the evaluation, management, and approval of engineering changes proposed by technology providers, minimizing impacts to cost and schedule. Ensure robust QA/QC processes are implemented to monitor the quality of all engineering tasks and deliverables. Participate in regular project engineering meetings, including progress reviews and schedule assessments, and collaborate with project teams, contractors, and site operations to resolve issues and recover or optimize schedules. Manage contractor staffing forecasts and re‑forecast resource requirements based on actual progress and remaining work. Support the development of achievable engineering schedules aligned with overall project milestones and requirements. Contribute to monthly project reporting, providing input on design progress, cost performance, risks, and issues, and recommending corrective actions as required. Support development and implementation of the Project Execution Plan (PEP), working collaboratively with procurement, project controls, construction, and commissioning teams. Coordinate early engagement with procurement, construction, and commissioning functions to incorporate constructability and execution input into design activities. Review and optimize engineering team organization to ensure the project can meet short‑ and long‑term objectives. Ensure engineering systems, tools, and 3D design environments are effectively established and utilized. Ensure engineering risk assessments and HAZOPs are completed and that identified risks are addressed. Supervise project staff, consultants, and contractors, providing leadership and technical guidance. Coordinate engineering quality audits and ensure compliance with applicable standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in project and engineering management; or Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in project and engineering management.
