Develop high confidence mine plans based on historical performance and improve mine recovery. To grow the people in the engineering group through performance review, training, guidance, and mentoring to reach their maximum potential.Responsibilities Promoting Safety and SustainabilityAlign with Fatality Risk Management protocols at all sitesPromote innovation and continuous improvement in safety by reviewing existing engineering designs and new designsReview plans and designs for regulatory compliance and compliance to Company policies, procedures and standardsPromote and adhere to Company environmental and sustainability policiesMine Planning and Mine DesignLead mine engineering team in a safe and efficient manner to achieve departmental and corporate business objectivesSupport yearly budget and company business planning exerciseOptimize grade control and minimize dilution through effective incorporation of geologic data and tasks in mine planLiaise with Geotech team and incorporate guidance into mine planProvide guidance to operating departments to maximize production, plan their activities and accurately measure key mining parametersManage consultants and contractors on engineering projectsComplete conceptual design and scheduling of future mining areas. Consider infrastructure, material handling, water management, ventilation, services, equipment requirements and engineered safety on new installations/equipmentParticipate in strategic planning at the departmental level, and provide input to increase value and optimize the use of resourcesIdentify and champion opportunities to optimize the contractor’s efforts (overbreak, advance rates, ventilation, pumping)Perform other duties as requestedStrategic PlanningMaintaining, reporting and monitoring of production statistics and performance to ensure the property’s goals and objectives are achievedParticipate in Business Planning exercise at the senior management level, providing guidance on options to increase value and optimize use of resourcesProvide support to exploration teams to ensure targets appropriately scheduled and incorporated into the mine planSupport reserve and resource calculations as required by the corporationTraining and EducationA Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or equivalent engineering degreeRegistered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and in good standing order with PEO, or equivalent in other jurisdictionsA minimum 5-7 years of mine operation and engineering experienceA minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a leadership roleBe technically competent and have a good understanding of key business drivers for gold miningStrong Deswik skillsStrong understanding of geologic influence on mine plan confidenceExperience with UG water management, seismic systems, and paste fill would be considered an assetKnowledge of engineering techniques as they apply to ore body evaluation and mine operationsHave strong communication and people skillsBe focused, clear and decisiveAble to impact and influence in order to gain the alignment of the engineering and operating teamsCompensation And Benefits Competitive total compensation package including:Health, Dental, Life, AD&D, Disability, Healthcare and Wellness Spending Accounts, Virtual Care and Employee and Family Assistance ProgramCompany contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension PlanAnnual total compensation of CAD to CAD (including annual bonus eligibility)Additional Information This posting is for an existing vacancy at Discovery Silver.We thank all candidates in advance.
