The Opportunity We're looking for a Trade Compliance Officer to join our Compliance team. Reporting to the Director of Trade Compliance, the Compliance Officer, Trade Compliance is responsible for day‑to‑day trade compliance activities for all business lines of Aviso Financial Inc, including daily and monthly trade surveillance reviews and quarterly trend analysis to detect manipulative and deceptive trading activities, in accordance with regulatory requirements established by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), provincial Securities Commissions, and AFI internal policies. This role will be a subject‑matter expert on the Universal Marketplace Integrity Rules (“UMIR”). What your day looks like Daily and monthly review of compliance reports for manipulative and deceptive trading activities. Review PRO account trading, amend/enhance policies and procedures, and update process documents. Approve new online brokerage and institutional accounts, reviewing credit reports and documentation. Review supervision reports for CIRO Rules, prepare and submit regulatory reports. Communicate with advisors/introducing brokers regarding trade compliance concerns and track resolution. Provide day‑to‑day trade compliance education support via email and newsletter. Requirements Post‑secondary degree in a related field. 3–5 years of industry experience, with at least 4 years in a specialized role. Knowledge of the mutual funds industry and relevant legislative framework. Completion of the Investment Dealer Supervisor Course and required CIRO Supervisor registration. Optional completion of the Options Supervisor Course and Canadian Commodities Supervisor Course. CIRO registration as a supervisor (equity, options, or futures). Curiosity and solution‑seeking mindset. Excellent analytical and investigative skills. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to work independently with a commitment to customer service. Disciplined work ethic and excellence in output. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
