Role Name: Country Medical Director – Canada Department: Medical Affairs / Scientific Affairs Role Purpose We are now seeking an experienced Country Medical Director – Canada to provide strategic medical leadership and shape the future of Medical Affairs across the Canadian market in department of Medical Affairs / Scientific Affairs. Role Summary Reporting to the SVP, Global Medical Affairs, the Country Medical Director is a key member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team (MALT). You will translate global medical strategy into impactful local execution, ensuring scientific excellence, regulatory compliance, and high‑quality medical engagement tailored to the Canadian healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities Strategic Medical Leadership Lead and execute country‑level medical strategy aligned with global and therapy‑area objectives. Provide strategic input for product launches, lifecycle management, and evidence generation. Act as a senior medical advisor to regional leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders. Partner with Global Medical Excellence and lead countries to drive consistent execution. Medical Affairs Team Leadership Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing Medical Affairs team. Embed a culture of scientific excellence, integrity, and collaboration Implement medical operating models, SOPs, and governance aligned with global and local requirements. Drive talent development, succession planning, and performance management. External Scientific Engagement & Communications Establish trusted partnerships with KOLs, medical societies, and healthcare stakeholders. Identify unmet needs, emerging trends, and therapeutic‑area insights. Lead Medical Communications, Disease State Awareness, and lifecycle strategies. Medical Governance, Compliance & Ethics Ensure full compliance with global medical governance standards and Canadian regulatory codes. Lead ethics and compliance training within Medical Affairs. Support audits, investigations, and corrective/preventive actions as needed. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Commercial, Regulatory, Market Access, and other functions. Review and approve local promotional and non‑promotional material. Maintain a clear separation between medical and commercial activities. Qualifications & Experience Education Advanced scientific degree strongly preferred (PharmD, PhD, DPharm, or equivalent) Medical degree (MD) desirable but not required Experience 10+ years of clinical and/or Medical Affairs experience in pharma or biotech. Proven leadership at country, regional, or global Medical Affair Strong track record in medical strategy, execution, and KOL engagement.
