In addition to VFDs, we also provide DC drives, soft starts, servo controls and PLC systems.What you will be doing Arrow Speed Controls is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Application Engineer to support PLC/HMI programming, VFD repair, and field service commissioning activities. This role requires strong technical expertise in industrial automation, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and on-site at customer facilities.Key Responsibilities PLC Programming & AutomationDevelop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs (ladder logic, function block, structured text)Work with platforms such as Mitsubishi Electric, Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation), and SiemensConfigure HMIs and SCADA systemsPerform I/O checks, loop testing, and system validationIntegrate PLCs with VFDs, sensors, and network systems (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.)VFD Repair & Diagnostics (Support only)Diagnose and repair variable frequency drives, including brands like Mitsubishi Electric and BenshawConduct testing, calibration, and load simulationComplete capacitor reforming and preventative maintenancePrepare detailed service and repair reportsField Service & CommissioningCommission new installations of VFDs, soft starters, and control panelsPerform startup, parameter setup, and system optimizationExecute site acceptance testing (SAT) and functional verificationProvide on-site troubleshooting and emergency supportTravel to customer sites as required (local and occasional out-of-town)Customer Support & DocumentationProvide technical support to customers (remote and on-site)Train customers on system operation and maintenanceCreate commissioning reports, service documentation, and as-built updatesSupport quotation and scope development for service jobsWhat we need from you EducationDegree in Electrical Engineering, and/or Automation ControlsP.Eng registration is an assetExperience5+ years in industrial automation or drives serviceHands‑on experience with PLC/HMI programming and VFD troubleshootingExperience in commissioning industrial control systemsTechnical SkillsStrong knowledge of PLC platforms (Mitsubishi, Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.)Experience with VFD parameterization and motor control systems is an asset.Understanding of industrial communication protocols:Ethernet/IPModbus TCP/RTUProfibus / ProfinetAbility to read electrical schematics and control drawingsFamiliarity with test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, megger)Soft SkillsStrong troubleshooting and analytical thinkingExcellent communication and customer service skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple projectsOrganized with attention to detailOther RequirementsValid driver’s license and ability to travelAbility to work in industrial environmentsFlexibility for after‑hours or emergency service callsWhat we will give to you$90,000 – $110,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualificationsExtended health and dental benefitsRRSP matching planEducation and training funding opportunitiesSocial functions with teamPaid time off for personal wellnessOpportunities to move up with your career with ArrowArrow Speed Controls is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
