Entering its 49th year, the Toronto Children’s Chorus (TCC) is committed to providing life‑enhancing experiences for children through the study and performance of the choral art. Under Artistic Director, Zimfira Poloz, and Associate Artistic Director, Charissa Bagan, TCC continues to build its successful tradition of providing unparalleled choral music education to over 300 young singers in the Greater Toronto Area. Job Description The Toronto Children’s Chorus is seeking passionate and skilled conductors to assist in work with its Training Choirs (5-12) and Main Choir (12-18) for the season. The successful candidates will work closely with the Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director and administrative staff to support the artistic vision of this world‑class organization. All ensembles rehearse in midtown Toronto on weekdays between 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Responsibilities Contribute to the efficiency and success of all rehearsals and performances of their respective choir, including leading sectionals, musicianship groups, and rehearsal segments. Take detailed notes during rehearsals and summarize in e‑memo to the artistic team. Track music skill and memory progress for each ensemble member. Attend artistic staff meetings, workshops and festivals as outlined in the choir’s calendar. Create and distribute e‑memos and communicate with parents/guardians as required. Other duties as discussed with the Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director. Qualifications An undergraduate degree in music (graduate degree or equivalent experience preferred). A proven track‑record teaching children and youth. 3+ years of community choral conducting experience. An understanding of vocal pedagogy and International Phonetic Alphabet. Fluency in tonic solfa is an asset. Certification in Orff, Kodaly and/or Dalcroze is an asset. Familiarity with the RCM and A Young Singer’s Journey theory curriculums is an asset. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills. Collaborative, positive and enthusiastic attitude. Compensation Dependent on experience.
