Overview Promote independence in daily activities while mindful of client’s intellectual and physical disabilities. Assist with meals, cooking, household maintenance, grooming, and dressing as assigned. Responsibilities Advance client’s decision‑making, productivity and participation in a range of daily activities. Perform all other job duties as assigned. Facilitate the client’s inclusion in positive community experiences. Transport clients to appointments, community activities, or other locations as needed, ensuring safety and timeliness during travel. Maintain current knowledge of client’s needs and maintain positive communications and relationships with supervisors, clients, landlords, employers, family members, Regional Center, D.O.R. and other community members. Participate in the evaluation of the client through completion of task analysis and other requested assessment devices. Implement individual training and support programs under the direction of the case responsible person. Document required activity records, reports, incidents, and client evaluations in a timely, complete, and accurate manner as required. Address challenging behaviours proactively and respectfully, using methods outlined in plans and training. Oversee client activities and environment throughout shift to ensure the fulfillment of health and safety needs; provide direct service as needed and required. Qualifications 18 years of age or older; successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen and background check. A Direct Support Professional works as scheduled by the Regional Manager and/or his/her designee. Overtime may be required as dictated by operational needs, but no holiday or overtime may be worked without the prior approval of the supervisor. Insured, registered vehicle in safe working condition, and proof of current CA driver’s license. Schedule may be either part or full time, depending on the needs of the clients and Adjoin. High School Diploma or equivalent. Use of a mobile smart device (cell phone/tablet) with reliable internet connectivity and data to complete essential job tasks. Physical evaluations may be required depending on duties, including a TB test and/or a lift and transfer test. Certification in an approved First‑Aid and CPR class; or successful completion within 45 days of the date of hire. Skills & Other Requirements Aptitude for confidentiality, organizational skills and good interpersonal skills.
