HDR is currently seeking a Senior Civil Designer. The successful candidate will be involved in design, modeling and drawings preparation, and will work closely with a multi-disciplinary project team to create high-quality design solutions.ResponsibilitiesWork on the Civil Models with no direction from the Engineer or other technical professionalBe responsible for civil discipline model and generate the BIM elements, based on the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP) and project scopeCreate and maintain the civil model, systems, content, and overall digital delivery outputTo be skilled with the software used to produce the designs identified in the Digital Delivery requirementsHave mastered civil discipline and how it interacts with other discipline designsHave an advanced understanding of engineering/architectural documentation for all disciplinesPrepare detailed drawings, layouts, & diagrams of the design within the project scope, schedule, and budget, using the current 3D softwareCoordinate the design with other discipline models through Design Reviews and 3D Coordination processesExecute all Digital Delivery requirements identified on the projectContribute to the development of the business class digital needsWork closely with Civil Engineering Lead, Project Managers, Project Engineers and a multi-disciplinary design team on a daily basisSupport the design and production of site civil construction documentsModel and draft site civil designs in Civil 3D, including site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management systems, roadway, and site utilities.Model both gravity and pressure pipe networksSupport the development of construction drawing packages in Civil 3D to ensure the files and plans adhere to HDR and/or client CAD standardsPrepare detailed drawings, layouts and diagrams of the design within the project scope, schedule and budget using the 3D softwareDemonstrate an understanding of site civil design concepts including earthworks, surfaces, site grading and pipe networksCoordinate the design with other discipline models through Design Reviews and the 3D coordination processMentor junior and intermediate civil designersPreferred QualificationsA minimum of 10 years related industry experienceCompetency of Microsoft Office products and communication toolsGood understanding of civil design concepts, industry standards and practicesMinimum of 10 years’ experience in the municipal infrastructure designProficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and MicroStationProficiency with gravity and pressure pipe networks modelingStrong organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skillsLeadership and mentoring skillsets are essentialAutodesk Civil 3D certificationOpenRoads experienceRevit experienceExperience with municipal clients in OntarioRequired QualificationsTechnical degree or a combination of education and related industry experienceA minimum of 5 years related industry experienceAdvanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructureAdvanced skillset of 3D Coordination toolCompetency of Microsoft Office products and communication toolsAdvanced understanding of engineering or architectural conceptsKnowledge of industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specificationsExcellent communication skills, attention to detail and organizational traits are essentialBenefits We provide a comprehensive benefits package that promotes employee ownership, employee health, performance, and success, which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, an employee assistance program, paid time away, parental leave, paid holidays, a retirement savings plan with employer match, employee referral bonus and tuition reimbursement.
