This role blends strong design expertise with hands‑on photography and videography to support compelling corporate storytelling. As a key member of the Communications team, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to produce high‑quality visual assets that reflect Alberta Innovates’ brand, culture, and strategic priorities, while helping bring innovative stories to life for Albertans. You will contribute to high‑impact initiatives such as annual reports, Innovation Week, funding program launches, and research storytelling. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for duties that will include: Design & Creative Production Develop high-quality visual assets for digital, print, and multimedia channels (reports, presentations, infographics, social media, web, and campaigns) Translate complex concepts and research into engaging visual narratives Maintain and evolve brand standards to ensure consistency across all platforms Stay current on design trends, tools, and best practices Photography & Videography Photography & Videography Capture photography and video content at corporate events, labs, and field activities across Alberta Produce and edit short‑form videos for digital channels and internal use Manage and organize digital assets (archiving, tagging, cataloguing) Ensure all multimedia outputs meet brand, accessibility, and privacy standards Digital & Social Media Support Collaborate with Communications team members on visual content for web, email, and social media Optimize designs for digital platforms and accessibility standards (WCAG) Contribute to impactful visual storytelling strategies Use performance insights and trends to continuously improve content Consult with internal clients to assess needs and provide creative solutions Support major corporate initiatives, campaigns, and announcements Coordinate with external vendors (e.g., printers, photographers, videographers) Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment Qualifications and Skills Required Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, or related field Minimum 4 years of professional design experience (corporate, agency, or public sector preferred) Demonstrated experience in photography and videography, including editing and production Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects) Strong understanding of digital design across web, mobile, and social platforms Experience with photography/videography equipment and workflows Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress) and accessibility standards (WCAG) is an asset Exceptional design, layout, and typography skills with strong attention to detail Ability to translate complex content into clear, engaging visuals Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills Creative, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment Who We Are Alberta Innovates is the province’s most comprehensive research and innovation agency.
