Agronomic Research Specialist The Field Associate contributes to an R&D Field Trial program in crops such as canola, corn, or soybeans, depending on the region. This 19‑month term position is based out of the Headingly, Manitoba site. Responsibilities Ensure safe and efficient operation of the research program in alignment with Bayer’s SSHE and Business Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards. Collaborate with project team members to deliver detailed experimental protocols that enable advancement decisions by scientists and placement decisions for customers. Operate research equipment, take notes, and manage data with internal IT systems. Leverage digital and mechanical platforms to collect, analyze, and deliver data on agronomic traits throughout the growing season. Self‑motivate, problem‑solve, and make timely decisions regarding time, prioritization, and project management. Build and leverage networks across diverse teams and establish partnerships in the local community, including growers and local leaders. Supervise and direct third‑party labor or seasonal staff to achieve trial and business objectives. Communicate across teams and leaders with agility, openness to change, and a commitment to continuous learning. Partner with manager on a tailored business and personal development plan aligned with Bayer’s LIFE values. Travel up to 15% of the time, including overnight travel during peak seasons. Work extended hours and/or weekends during peak seasons. Drive a company vehicle and handle hauling of trailers, products, supplies, or equipment in a safe manner. Qualifications Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred: Agronomy, Life Sciences, Engineering, or Computer Science). Experience in agricultural research, seed technology industry, or plant breeding. Knowledge of basic statistical analysis and experimental research design principles. Mechanical and IT aptitude. Ability to learn and operate research agriculture equipment, including precision agriculture technology. Knowledge or ability to learn region‑specific crop production and farming practices. Valid driver’s license for medium to heavy vehicle operation (over 10,000 lbs GCWR) without air brake designation. Ability to obtain a pesticide applicator’s license and RPAS drone pilot license. Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in conditions that require sitting, standing, walking for extended periods. Ability to work in high and low temperatures in a field or greenhouse setting. Capable of working longer hours and weekends, primarily during the peak busy field season. History of implementing continuous improvements and innovation. Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative, team‑based environment. Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
