Systems Integration Engineer, Intermediate - Rail and Transit Toronto, ON, CanadaThornhill, ON, Canada Job Description A role as an Intermediate Systems Integration Engineer within the Rail & Transit team, responsible for delivering a major urban rail extension in the Greater Toronto Area. The position involves integrating new‑build systems with existing transit infrastructure from design through revenue operations. The engineer reports to the Manager/Director and collaborates with Chief Engineers, Designers, Project Managers, Analysts, and third‑party stakeholders across multiple rail and transit disciplines, supporting integration, verification, and validation milestones. Your Impact Lead systems integration activities across signaling, communications, traction power, SCADA, and control center systems Develop and maintain system architectures, functional analyses, and integration strategies across the full engineering lifecycle Define and manage interfaces through Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Definition Documents (IDDs), and traceability artifacts Coordinate and facilitate interface resolution workshops with designers, contractors, vendors, and operators Align integration and verification activities with project stage gates and design‑build milestones Support validation and verification planning to ensure compliance, interoperability, and performance Engage directly with clients to resolve technical issues and align expectations Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing project team The Skills That Set You Apart Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline Registered as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or licensed P.Eng. in Canada INCOSE Certification such as ASEP or CSEP would be an asset 5+ years of experience in rail, transit, or other safety‑critical engineering environments Strong grounding in systems engineering principles, including the V‑model and lifecycle management Experience with systems integration on complex, multi‑disciplinary infrastructure projects Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 15288 and IEEE 1220 systems engineering standards Exposure to verification & validation activities (FAT, SAT, SIT, test planning) Knowledge of CENELEC standards and Metrolinx Schedule 29 is an asset Familiarity with Requirements Management and Integration using tools like IBM DOORS Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and communicate complex technical concepts clearly Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $98,800 – $130,800MB & ON: $90,100 – $124,100NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $89,200 – $118,500 Disclosure The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
