1 year contract - Payroll Specialist CDN and US payroll Hybrid 3 days in office We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to assist in processing payroll for our employees in Canada and the US . The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll regulations, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintain payroll records, and assist with various payroll-related inquiries. Key Responsibilities: Support full-cycle payroll processing for both U.S. and Canadian employees using ADP Workforce Now and Power Pay, including new hires, terminations, and leave administration. Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of year-end payroll activities, including T4s, T2200, W-2s, 1099, 1095 and year end statutory filings (e.g., WSIB, EHT, ) Assist in administering employee benefits programs across the U.S. and Canada, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and management of taxable benefits (e.g., company gas cards). Process and reconcile benefit-related remittances, including HSA, 401(k), and RRSP contributions. Maintain and update benefit deductions in payroll systems, ensuring accurate setup and ongoing reconciliation. Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries to support accurate financial reporting. Validate payroll data by reviewing employee changes (e.g., compensation updates, promotions, profile changes, and adjustments) to ensure accuracy and compliance. Support in year end audits and payroll reconciliations and reasonable checks to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance. Handle sensitive payroll and employee information with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Qualifications: Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field (preferred). Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience, with experience in both the US and Canada. Experience with Power Pay, ADP Workforce Now, and SuccessFactors is an asset. Experience with HRIS and timekeeping systems (e.g., UKG, ADP, SuccessFactors). Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with benefits administration is a plus. Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis/reporting
