Role Overview Reporting to the Dean and guided by the mission to advance the profile of the School, the Director will be a visionary and inclusive leader committed to providing exemplary academic and administrative leadership in the areas of academic programs, student affairs, faculty support, stewardship of human and financial resources and active participation in the intellectual life of the School, the Faculty, and the University. The Director will also engage in collegial governance and work collaboratively with faculty and staff to ensure curriculum planning, program development, and community engagement activities support excellence in scholarship, research, teaching, and learning, and will provide strong advocacy on behalf of the School in relation to other University departments, the profession itself, and external stakeholders. Academic Responsibilities As a tenured faculty member, the Director will be responsible for engaging in teaching, scholarly research or creative activity, and service duties while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities. The Director will apply innovative strategies, effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, and a student‑centred approach to solve complex problems to enable the School to achieve its goals. The Director will role‑model the School’s and the University’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) values and promote EDIA across the profession and discipline. Candidate Qualifications The preferred candidate is an established scholar with strong academic leadership skills and progressive university administrative experience. Required qualifications include a doctoral degree in social work or a related discipline. The Director must possess an open and collegial style, outstanding management, communication and interpersonal skills, a creative approach to problem solving, and the ability to foster an environment that encourages and supports faculty, staff, and students to exercise creativity and initiative. Candidates must demonstrate capacity to meet high expectations for teaching, scholarship, academic leadership, collaboration, and collegial service, and provide evidence of experience with course/curriculum review and development, excellent pedagogical practice, and scholarship, research, and creativity, as well as strong communication skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
