As a Senior Data Governance Analyst, you will oversee data governance across the organization, ensuring compliance and data integrity. ResponsibilitiesEstablish and maintain enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards. Define and enforce data classification, retention, and lifecycle management strategies aligned to business, legal, and regulatory requirements. Ensure corporate data is well‑governed, compliant, and recoverable across on‑premises and cloud environments. Lead and support data retention, defensible deletion, and long‑term archival strategies, ensuring consistency and audit readiness. Maintain and continuously improve governance documentation, standards, procedures, and operational controls. Participate in enterprise Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BCP) programs, including exercises, tabletop reviews, and recovery validation activities, ensuring alignment with RTO/RPO objectives and business continuity requirements. Identify gaps and recommend improvements to enhance organizational resiliency. Work closely with Infrastructure teams to ensure backup platforms align with governance and retention requirements, applying controls to enterprise backup platforms (e.g., Veeam Backup & Replication, AvePoint). Ensure proper configuration of retention policies, immutability controls, compliance and audit requirements, and support backup recovery alignment to data lifecycle management. Partner with Security, Infrastructure, Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure consistent governance practices; participate in change management (CAB) processes and provide governance input for infrastructure and data‑related changes. Provide guidance and oversight for projects involving data, system migrations, and cloud adoption. Qualifications8–12+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or compliance‑focused roles. Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and standards; data retention, classification, and lifecycle management. Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements. Experience supporting Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BCP) initiatives. Working knowledge of enterprise backup platforms, including Veeam Backup & Replication and AvePoint (or similar SaaS backup solutions). Experience working in hybrid environments (on‑premises + cloud). Strong documentation, audit, and communication skills. High attention to detail and strong focus on policies, procedures, and governance discipline. Experience with Microsoft Purview (or similar data classification/compliance platforms), Microsoft 365 governance and retention policies, ransomware defense strategies and immutability concepts. Familiarity with backup and recovery alignment to governance frameworks. Certifications: data governance/compliance, Microsoft/Azure, ITIL or related frameworks.
