Based in Thunder Bay ON and with the launch of a new branch operation, we are seeking a Field Service Manager to lead and develop a high-performing service team of skilled Mechanics and Technicians supporting deployed mining equipment in the field. Encompassing a broad territory in Northern Ontario, servicing customers across mining operations throughout Northwestern Ontario to Manitoba, this role is critical to ensuring the delivery of exceptional service. Inheriting a team of 17 Technicians working throughout the region (Mechanics, electricians etc.), and who are now being assigned to this new location, this will form the baseline that you will grow from. In a region where reliability and direction matter, the Field Service Manager will serve as a steady point of leadership for the team and the customers that they support—much like an Inukshuk, offering guidance, support, and clarity across complex and often remote operations. This role requires a leader who can unify teams, navigate challenges, and ensure consistent profitable performance in demanding environments. Having started your career turning a wrench, with practical experience gained within the mining or heavy equipment industry, you understand the challenges faced by field-based crews, working on customer sites, and to deadlines. Position Overview: Reporting to the Operations Manager Field Service, you will own and have full responsibility for service results including work order profitability, operational cost, and customer satisfaction for the Thunder Bay location. One of 7 Field Service Managers across Canada, you will work collaboratively to share strategies, identify opportunities for shared contribution, and will work closely with cross functional teams, sales personnel, vendors and customers to create “win-win” strategies for mutual success. Responsibilities: Manage, coach, train and lead employees in a fashion that is consistent with our company culture and management philosophy. Effectively manage a regional team of service technicians including remote technicians and remote work sites all while promoting health a safety as a top priority. Prepare and participate in customer review meetings and service team review meetings. Build customer relations in the designated region. Develop and implement a detailed training plan for new and existing employees. Manage the daily workload of the service team. Provide quotes to our customers for potential work to be performed by the service team. Work cooperatively with all departments in a spirit of teamwork to address problem areas and stimulate service sales. Manage assets in the best interest of the company, the assets entrusted to the department, which may include but is not limited to, vehicles, tools, computers, and phones. Maintain a current list of assets supplied to each member of the team. Foster practices within the company that are consistent with its values and beliefs. Share knowledge with colleagues. Actively work to raise the competence level of the service group. Create a yearly service variance budget t o be followed and maintained throughout the year. Including leasing of company vehicles, purchase of Laptops and mobile phones etc. Conduct annual employee reviews for both performance and development. Promote the service growth for the designated region. Manage work orders. Actively contribute to Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Performance. Maintain and improve safety, health, environmental, and quality standards within the organization. Endorse, manage and build Sustainable Operations. Play a crucial role in driving sustainable practices, with a focus on achieving an injury-free workplace and reducing CO2 emissions Travel is required. Skills and Abilities: Excellent technical product knowledge on systems related to mining/ heavy equipment Good understanding of the sales and cost budgets, tracking of monthly results, cost control. Good written and computer-based skills, (quotations, reports, meeting minutes, summaries). Excellent verbal and written communication and interaction skills. Fluent in English (required) and proficient in the French language is an asset. Education & Experience : Minimum of five (5) years of practical experience working in the mining / heavy equipment industry in a supervisory role. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Exchange, as well as the ability to promptly learn new software and computer systems.
