Job Title Director, Sync & Visual Media Licensing Reports To President, WMC Department TV & Film Location Toronto, Ontario, Canada Job Type Regular, Full Time, Permanent Working Hours 37.5 hours per week Pay Range $120,000 - $130,000 Vacancy Backfill Your Role Responsible for driving and overseeing sync licensing activities within Canada. The role blends creative, marketing, and sales expertise to identify and capitalize on sync opportunities across film, television, advertising, video games, and emerging platforms. As leader, you will mentor the local team, maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, and collaborate with global sync teams to achieve revenue targets and create impactful sync moments for Warner Music Group artists. Here You’ll Get To Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the regional sync strategy in alignment with global objectives, focusing on maximizing revenue and market penetration. Creative Direction: Provide creative guidance to the sync team, ensuring an understanding of market trends, client needs, and optimal placement of the catalog. This includes active involvement in pitching and curating music for projects. Business Development & Sales: Drive aggressive sales efforts to identify and secure new sync opportunities, cultivating relationships with music supervisors, advertising agencies, production companies, brands, and other regional clients. Marketing & Promotion: Implement effective marketing strategies to promote the sync catalog and services, organizing showcases, attending industry events, and developing promotional materials. Revenue Generation & Budget Management: Achieve regional sync revenue targets and manage the regional budget effectively. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with global sync teams, A&R, marketing, legal, and finance departments to ensure seamless execution of sync deals and projects. About You 10 or more years of management experience, proven leadership, communications, and relationship‑building skills. Deep knowledge of sync licensing and synchronization rights, including usage restrictions and related licensing. Comprehensive understanding of music ownership rights and intellectual property laws (publishing, master recording rights, copyright ownership). Passion for staying updated on current trends, market demands, and standards in film, television, advertising, and online streaming. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, solve complex problems with critical thinking, and execute tactical clearances and pitches. Mastery and deep expertise across the sync licensing function and related occupational domains. Requirements Minimum of four days per week in‑office presence, as in‑office collaboration is critical for talent development and relationship building.
