Key ResponsibilitiesSupport BMO Insurance’s Chief Credit Officer in developing the enterprise credit risk framework for both internally and externally managed assets.Collaborate with the BMO Insurance investment management team to provide independent, objective review and adjudication of credit‑related risks.Cover multi‑sector investments including power, utilities & infrastructure; project finance; mining; oil & gas; diversified corporates and financial institutions, with challenges that broaden expertise across sectors and regions (primarily North America and Europe).Develop credit framework for derivative counterparties, including approval of counterparties, establishment of exposure limits, and determination of collateralization requirements.Engage with BMO Insurance lines of business to ensure transactions are adjudicated within BMO’s risk appetite, credit policies, and targeted portfolio metrics, within delegated lending limits.Interpret applicable BMO Insurance and/or BMO Corporate policies, standards, and financing guidelines, ensuring investment decisions comply with requirements and portfolio management processes function effectively.Build constructive relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders across levels.Support broader BMO Wealth Management credit risk, counterparty risk, loan portfolio management, investments valuation, and market‑risk oversight as required by the Wealth Management CRO or BMO Senior Credit Officer.Assist the Wealth Management CRO with periodic analysis, effective challenge and reporting needs, including quarterly PCL reporting, Risk Culture attestation, Compensation Plan reviews, Annual Strategic Plan reviews, Risk Identification and Risk Appetite updates, etc.Network with industry contacts to gather competitive insights and best practices.QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.Experience in credit analysis, originating or adjudicating in mining, oil & gas, project finance, power, utilities & infrastructure, diversified or financial institution sectors.7–10 years of experience in credit analysis within banking, insurance, asset management, or rating agencies.Expert knowledge of financial statements, cash‑flow analysis, and capital structures.Expert knowledge of banking products & services.Expert knowledge of industry trends and regulations, with a strong understanding of the insurance sector.Expert knowledge of credit portfolio management policies, procedures and financing guidelines.Seasoned professional with extensive industry knowledge.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Influence skills at an expert level.Collaboration and team skills focused on cross‑group collaboration.Ability to manage ambiguity.Data‑driven decision making at an expert level.Comfortable working with Excel and PowerPoint (intermediate proficiency).Knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management, Risk Identification and Risk Appetite concepts is a strong asset.Salary and Compensation $86,000.00 – $160,000.00 salary (potential commission component).BMO offers a competitive total compensation package that may include performance bonuses, discretionary bonuses and other rewards.
