Job Title: Sr. Java Developer - Capital Markets Job Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 2 days/week onsite) Position: 1 Employment Type: FTE Key Technologies: Java, SQL Overview Senior Java Developer focused on capital markets, responsible for developing and maintaining UI applications and supporting microservices, optimizing backend services and data pipelines, and contributing to architecture and design reviews. Responsibilities Create and maintain UI applications and their supporting microservices. Optimize backend services or data pipelines for stability, performance, and scalability. Provide technical support to promptly resolve escalated incidents/outages. Develop and document a detailed solution design, and contribute SME knowledge throughout the lifecycle. Translate business, Enterprise Architecture, system performance, and development standards into functional, technical, and UI designs for an application or system. Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, standards compliance, reusability, and maintainability; participate in Operational Readiness Reviews and gate reviews for solution design. Ensure designs reuse existing components and trace back to business requirements; design new modules with reusability in mind. Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies related to data engineering. Skills and Experience Required 7+ years of relevant experience as a Java developer. Experience with Java, Spring, SpringBoot. Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, HDFS, ADLS, ADF, Spark, Kafka, Databricks, Dremio, etc. Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Cassandra. Experience designing production-grade, scalable applications and microservices. Capital Markets experience required. Experience working on Agile teams. Desired Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong customer focus. Experience in Python and/or Scala.
