We are looking for a Hardware Quality Engineer to own and build the quality system across Lightspeed’s hardware ecosystem – payment terminals/readers, printers, networking, tablets, and POS accessories – ensuring devices meet high performance standards and technical issues are resolved permanently across our portfolio. Responsibilities Define and maintain overall quality strategy, including a consistent testing framework, quality gates, and acceptance criteria across the hardware portfolio. Lead structured investigations into hardware failures, perform root cause analysis, identify containment plans, and ensure their execution. Define and maintain the supplier performance monitoring and inspection plans for inbound inventory. Support returns triage and disposition decisions. Publish recurring quality dashboards and narratives for stakeholders and leadership. Contribute as part of the wider team to achieve organisational objectives even if this means doing tasks that are not strictly within the scope of your role. Qualifications 7+ years in hardware quality, supplier quality, reliability engineering, or manufacturing quality for devices, peripherals, or accessories. Hands‑on experience building test plans, validation protocols, sampling plans, and launch quality gates. Familiarity troubleshooting hardware in the field (networking basics, peripherals, device OS behavior/logs) to isolate likely failure modes and support root‑cause investigations. Proven track record with root cause, CAPA/8D, and supplier management (scorecards, audits, escalation). Strong analytical skills with the ability to mine data from RMAs, support tickets, and operational systems to identify trends. Experience partnering cross‑functionally with Product, Hardware Ops, Support, and Sales teams. Desired Attributes Extreme ownership: ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and assume responsibility when “grey” areas are present. Data‑driven decision making (trend analysis, defect data, supplier performance). Excellent communicator: translates technical issues into business impact and keeps stakeholders aligned through proactive documentation. Bias for measurable outcomes. High bar for quality: champions a premium standard while staying pragmatic on timelines and trade‑offs. Strength to challenge the status quo. Fluency in English as a working language. Benefits Lots of autonomy, flexible work culture and the option of fully remote work. Genuine career opportunities in a company that’s creating new jobs every day. Opportunity to make a difference; help merchants grow their businesses and become more successful by creating or improving products and addressing customer feedback. Work in a team big enough for growth but lean enough to make a real impact. Development of very high‑traffic products used at the global scale. Opportunities to learn and expand your skill set. Become a valued part of the diverse and inclusive Lightspeed family. Lightspeed equity scheme (we are all owners). Flexible paid time off policy. Extended healthcare benefits. Health and wellness benefit of $500 per year. Paid leave and assistance for new parents. Mental health online platform and counseling & coaching services. Volunteer day. Lightspeed does not accept unsolicited agency resumes. If we have not directly engaged your company in writing to supply candidates for a specific vacancy, we will not be responsible for any fees related to unsolicited resumes. Lightspeed is a proud equal‑opportunity employer and we are committed to creating an inclusive and barrier‑free workplace. We welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
