Job Title: SDET – Desktop Application Testing Job Location: Hybrid - Vancouver, Canada Experience: 1 to 2 Years Pay: Rete 40 to 45 CAD PH Role Summary NearSource is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to ensure the quality and reliability of desktop installation experiences for enterprise-grade applications. This role focuses on test automation, installer validation, and maintaining high-quality release standards across Windows environments. Key Responsibilities Drive end-to-end testing for desktop installation workflows, including install, upgrade, repair, and uninstall scenarios Design and develop automated test frameworks and test cases for installer-related functionality Execute test strategies covering requirements analysis, design validation, defect tracking, and risk assessment Validate installer performance across diverse Windows environments, configurations, and system states Investigate and reproduce defects, collaborating with engineering teams to resolve issues efficiently Improve testing processes through automation, tooling enhancements, and quality best practices Partner with global engineering teams to ensure consistent and high-quality product releases Contribute to a quality-driven engineering culture focused on ownership and continuous improvement Must-Have Skills 1+ years of experience in software testing, QA, or SDET roles Strong understanding of test design, defect lifecycle, and quality assurance methodologies Hands‑on experience with test automation development Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Groovy, or Shell Solid understanding of Windows OS fundamentals, including file systems, registry, services, and permissions Experience in testing desktop applications or installer workflows Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills Nice‑to‑Have Skills Familiarity with Windows installer technologies such as MSI and bootstrapper‑based installers Experience with installation workflows, including silent installs, patching, rollback, and dependency validation Exposure to Windows diagnostic and troubleshooting tools Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins Knowledge of the Microsoft .NET platform is a plus Equal Opportunity Statement NearSource is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment.
